“Really?
Well, what if I told you we were already in a scene and you’d already
submitted?” She gave him a wink and leaned back in her chair.
Submission
didn’t always exist in a neat little box or behind closed doors. How often did
the committed couples she’d seen at The Playroom prove the same? Some people
only liked to conduct their play in private, but she’d watched men and women
let go completely, allowing every decision to be made by their Dominant, down
to clothing and food selections.
He
frowned but didn’t break visual contact. “I’ve been accommodating, as a
gentleman should be.
I’m not asking for a spanking or to be tied up.”
“That’s
where we’ll disagree. The things you’ve been doing are commands, not questions
paired with fluttering lashes or coy looks. As for the tying and spanking, if
you’re interested in the act, you can let me know now.” And instinct told her
pain wouldn’t work on this one. “But a lot of submissive work has nothing to do
with sex or inflicting pain. It’s about letting me in here.” She leaned forward
and put her index and middle finger flat against his forehead.
He
inhaled sharply at the contact and let his fork hit the plate.
Laney
knew this would be the moment of truth, and she needed to ask. Needed finality
on whether this date had a longer shelf life than an hour in a restaurant. In
truth, she should’ve been out at his initial resistance, but his use of “never”
goaded her to push, to prod. Men in her dungeon stayed far away from such a
word.
“Do
you want me in here?” She poked him again.
He
finally lifted his head, a determined, neutral expression on his face. “If you
think you can handle it.”

She’d
been gone for nearly twenty minutes, and Kanoa almost went to see if she had
fallen into the toilet or something. Instead, he’d busied himself with cleaning
up their dinner trash. The restaurant was big on self-service to help keep
costs down. When he’d returned to stand by their table, she walked around the
corner from the bathroom and headed for him.
“I
apologize for taking so long. My sister called.”
“Is
everything all right?” He hoped this wouldn’t put an end to their evening.
Neither of them sat back down, and, as the moment unfurled, the air grew thick.
So thick, he’d swear he’d been transported to the island in the humid summer.
She
smiled, a half grin that didn’t quite meet her eyes but gave him a bit of
reassurance. “Nothing at
all. She wanted to make sure everything was going okay
and ask me to pick up a few things when I go home later. She’s got a nasty bug,
snuck up on her really.”
“Are
you sure you don’t need to leave?”
“Well,
I planned on leaving…with you.”
The
end of her sentence lingered as well. An open invitation he merely had to pluck
from the air with open arms of acceptance. There were some unspoken
invitations, too. No doubt involving a scene during which, he’d be expected to
submit. To give her permission to call the shots. The only other time he’d
allowed such a thing was in the military, allowing his superiors to control the
what, where, who, and how he did things. The why, well, such a question fell
beyond his pay grade.
“I’m
up for dessert.” He held a hand out to her, and she clasped his large, dark one
with her small, slender, pale one. A perfect fit, and he loved how she radiated
warmth and enjoyed being touched.
“Do
you mind following me?” She asked the question with her head cocked to one side
and a mischievous smirk.
“Not
at all. Lead the way.”

Kanoa
was ready for another round of wax. Honestly, he’d been surprised by her
tactic, expecting a barrage from a flogger. Instead, she’d turned to something
he hadn’t expected. When she let the wax drip onto his back, he’d believed
she’d never get him to react. Until his feet. Holy hell, his restraint to stay
still got tested there, especially when she removed the wax.
Somehow,
in blindfolding him, she created a connection between his body and hers. Her
body heat radiated against him whenever she got near. When she left his
proximity, his body ran cold.
He
expected her to do more wax play. Instead, she moved away. Minutes ticked by.
He struggled to
hear the slightest shuffle or jingle, except maybe she’d
slipped off her boots or stopped moving entirely. His heart thumped, blood
pumping rapidly through his body and drowning out the other noises in the room
he’d picked up on. The hum of the air conditioner, the ticking of a clock—all
gone, leaving him with nothing but his anxious need to move. To do something.
Only the fear she’d end everything if he moved kept him in place.
Finally,
he couldn’t take any more. “Pretty Woman, are you still here?”
A
low laugh echoed from across the room. “You don’t like being left in the dark,
do you, Kanoa?”
He
cursed under his breath. Everything about this room, this scene, this woman
seemed to be a never-ending test. “I wanted to make sure you didn’t leave me.”
Honesty helped in all situations.
“You
should trust in our mutual pleasure occurring from us occupying the same room. Now,
what shall your punishment be?”
“Name
it and I will do it, Pretty Woman.” How he wanted it to involve worshipping
her. To touch her, even. The waiting sent him to new heights of torture.
She
approached him, crouching on his left side. Whispering in his ear, she said, “I
want you to be silent and taste what you do to me.”
